Lockets and the hinges are EXTREMELY delicate. Therefore, it is highly advised that the locket is opened carefully like you would a book and not folded outward because this will cause the hinge to completely snap. Before closing it, it should be aligned and gently pressed. Remember there is a soldered glass piece now and it will not completely close.
